I know it's been a while... It's more work than I thought to constantly keep twitter, facebook, myspace, and this blog updated all the time :P.

It's been a while...

I completely forgot I had this thing. It's funny how bad my memory is. Really... I have a very select memory.

Let's see... July 4th weekend was fun. Spent time with my friends and it was overall just relaxing and fun, away from home and civilization. Haven't been spending much time with the D40. I should... The same thing is happening when I had a DSLR last time. I get into it at first then I stop using it after a while and it just sits.

Back to my WoW raid. Yeah.. I'm a nerd :(.

It's kind of exciting

So I have a habit of checking my YouTube channel too many times a day to see if any of my videos get views and apparently my most recent video keeps going up in views. It's only a couple views a day but that's still big for me. This hasn't happened since I first put my channel up several months ago. Either it's the same person viewing it over and over, or people are starting to see it. But either way, it's exciting! (I know I sound lame)

Woke up a little late today... Good news. Boss called and he gave me an hour off. So yay. That's always good news. I think I'll grab my camera and take some pictures.

Work work work

So it rained this morning and I didn't go into work until 11:30AM. And I don't work tomorrow @ my 2nd job until 2PM so that means I got suckered into working at my other job until 1:30 to help out for the time we lost this morning. Oh well. It's money right?

Anyways, I need to use my DSLR again. Haven't taken pictures in a few days. I'm going through withdrawals. I just take it out just to take a picture of something random then put it away to get my fix. I need to record another cover too! Too much stuff to do in such little time...

Wooohooo it works

So I figured out how to get my new cover video uploaded onto YouTube. Just took a bit of magic ;). I like to believe that my voice has matured since I started singing and recording covers. Voice lessons definitely taught me to actually think about my singing more while I'm singing and how to control my voice a lot more. Special thank you to Dawn Taylor for helping me and guiding me :).

I want to try another cover but I will DEFINITELY have to drop it down a couple of keys since the original is so out of my range, it's not even funny. I still love the song. Speaking of that, I love Glee. I can't wait for another season to start this fall. I just wish the Glee staff would actually send everyone an e-mail that participated in their nationwide casting call on MySpace to tell them "Thank you for your submission" and to say whether or not they want you to continue in the auditioning process. Their MySpace page still says they are reviewing submissions and that they'll notify you if they want you but I don't know of any news where they actually chose someone. I guess time will only tell.

Oh! Grover! I forgot to mention this... Funny story. I think it was last weekend, I went to take a nap on my bed, fell asleep, and woke up to find something under my back. I roll over, look down, and there's my cat, sound asleep UNDERNEATH me. I laugh and go "oops! you okay?" and he's dead asleep, doesn't move and doesn't care. Cute little bugger.

Took some pictures at a softball game today. They didn't turn out as great as I wanted to because it was pretty cloudy and gloomy out. I tried staying away from a higher ISO to avoid getting grainy pictures but I had no choice. The low shutter speed wasn't getting me the nice action shots with no blur so I tried compensating with an ISO 800 and they turned out eh.

Well I guess I'll pop in a movie and relax until bed...

What else is new?

Nothing is ever new with me. EXCEPT, I just recorded my first full cover of a song and YouTube keeps giving me errors when I try to upload it. I feel like a broken record considering this is my Facebook and Twitter status... Regardless, I am FRUSTRATED. I don't get it. It's under the size limit, it's below the maximum length of time, it's in one of the most popular formats (.mpg, I tried converting it to .avi and I got no where). UUURRGGGG I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DOOOO.

Anyways, I feel proud of myself because earlier today, I went to Home Depot and bought myself some plywood and 2x4's (that they cut for me to my desired dimensions) and built myself a tower for my computer. Ever since I moved into my apartment, my computer has been either sitting on the floor between my desk and the wall (very tight space by the way, hardly any air circulation) or on top of old speakers (only about a foot tall) that I no longer needed. Now that it's actually level with my desk, the fans finally have some better air flow to them and hopefully the computer stays cooler, even if it's just a couple degrees! Ever little bit helps right? ;)

I STILL CAN'T GET YOUTUBE TO WORKK. Blahhh. Not to mention I've been sweating all day and I'm all cranky, sore, tired, stressed, bored, frustrated...all sorts of stuff that isn't helping right now. Maybe I'll go get my camera out and mess around.

Pictures speak 1000 words

Brief intro... Today was a VERY exciting day. Picked up a couple things and turned yesterdays light box and pictures into this:

So excited...

Today was a VERY exciting day for me. Well, I should say, very exciting night. For several weeks now, I've been wanting to build a light box for photography. My boss has been holding this box for me and I FINALLY remembered to take it today. So I came home after work, did a little research (thanks to Google), and went out and got the materials I needed.

Around $10 later and an hour of work, I had this setup:

Here are a couple sample pictures (Excuse the quality of the pictures. I was overwhelmed with excitement and didn't actually spend time to take decent pictures):





The shadows REALLY show on the second one, which is why I need 2 more lights for each side to help get rid of them. I also need a bigger box! Before I cut the box up to construct the light box, I thought it was going to be more than big enough. Now, I want a giant one to fit all sorts of stuff in haha.

And I think I finally found a decent deal on a Nikon 18-55 lens! VR too, which makes it even more exciting!! I can't wait. The lens will help tremendously with taking picture with my light box. A 55-200 isn't really meant for up close shots :P.

I guess I should go to bed since it's 1:30AM and I have to be at work at 7AM :(. I'm in such a good mood, who knows how long it'll take to fall asleep...

Blahhh

I hate how bad my stage fright is when it comes to singing. I love singing more than anything. I just wish I could do it in front of people, or could practice when someone was around the apartment. I have to stop everything I'm doing when someone walks inside, anywhere in the apartment. I hate it. Why can't I get over my stage fright? I wish I knew someone that had a recording studio...

Woops

So I tried logging into my blogger yesterday, and for some reason, it wasn't showing my blogs I already created. I thought something was wrong and it was already very late so I said oh well. Today, I log on, same thing. So finally I clicked around to try to find out what's going on and it turns out I was logged into my gmail account. I forgot I had checked it a few days ago and I selected the "keep me signed in" thing and since this blogger uses gmail, it kept it signed into a different e-mail account. Confusing stuff.

With that set aside, I'm on the hunt for a new picture for a new photography contest. For those that don't know, this won me my first photography contest I've ever entered:

The theme was "circles". Only 4 people including myself entered but I won with 17 votes, with the next person behind me having 6. Not many people are involved with the photography section of the forum I entered the contest on but it still feels like a big accomplishment to me :). The next theme is "reflection". Unfortunately, it's been either too windy or is too late in the day for me to capture any pictures of ponds, puddles, etc. Fortunately for me, I started work early today, so I finished early, so now I get the chance to go out and try to get a picture taken and edited before the deadline which is in 2 days.

I feel like photography is taking away from my singing which is no good. Singing is my true passion so I should be pursuing that full on shouldn't I? But I love photography and have for several years now and now that I have the chance to actually do some work, I feel like I should take advantage of the opportunity. If only there were more hours in a day...

Day two

So I had hoped that I would have had another song covered by tonight but it turned out to be harder than I thought... As always... Maybe over the weekend.

Right now, I'm watching my friend trying to fix her headphones. First she used tape. That didn't work. Now she's using "cement for plastic models". She's absolutely determined to fix it. Oh wait, the cement didn't work. "It said to hold it for 20 seconds......... Then let it dry for 4 hours". Haha. Poor girl.

My cat is just hangin out in the middle of the floor staring at stuff.

I'm bored just hangin out. Today was one of the those days that I wish I could fast forward through, even though I hate getting older by the day. I wish I could go out with my D40 but I don't have a tripod. I need to get one. Along with another lens. Guess I'll go make popcorn and watch a movie.

First day of blogging...

It's been a lllooonnnggg time since I've used a blog... But since I seem to enjoy updating my status on Facebook, why not create a blog?

So what's on my mind? Well I just found out David Choi lost his YouTube channel due to......well....I won't and don't want to get into it but basically there's a big legal struggle and his music channel got suspended.

I'm really enjoying photography. I'm still a newbie with my D40 but I absolutely love it. I just really really REALLY need to get a closer range lens because a 55-200mm lens just doesn't cut it when it comes to wanting to take pictures of things close up. I hope I can get a deal on eBay or find one used locally...

Hmm what else... Are these things supposed to be long? I've been out of the blogging world for so long, I forget what to do. Hmm what about my dream? We all have dreams. Mine? Music. Singing. Me, a record deal, writing songs, performing for people (except for the part where I have to get over my EXTREME stage fright). That's my dream. But I guess for now I'll have to stick with covering songs already out there and hoping my voice gets recognized one day. Do I have what it takes to make it? I believe I do. I know a lot of people have heard my voice by now. And a lot of those a lot of people have said I have a good voice. I'd like to think I want to believe them but my self-confidence is about as high as the bottom of Mariana's Trench.
